Law courts in England are a central part of the British legal framework. The President and CEO of the Isle of Man Legislation Society had been delighted to be included in the visitor record of the Legislation Society of Scotland at their latest publish-referendum conference. The SRA warned that the whole system of authorized companies regulation was supplier-centric, and that the authorized providers market it was seeking to manage now and in the future bore no resemblance to that on which the core present foundations were primarily based. The County Courts take care of all except essentially the most sophisticated and the simplest civil circumstances (including most issues beneath the value of £5000), equivalent to claims for reimbursement of money owed, breach of contract involving goods or property, private injury, household points (together with adoption and divorce), housing issues (together with recovery of mortgage and rent arrears, and re-possession), and enforcement of earlier County Courtroom judgments. How family disputes are resolved is also a significant part of the English legal system. This means that judges not only apply the law but also interpret and, in some cases, create legal principles through precedent. Family courts handle cases such as divorce, child custody, domestic violence, and child protection. A unique feature of the English legal system is its reliance on common law—laws developed through judicial decisions rather than statutes alone. There have to be a danger that a great number of sensible, skilled solicitors will discover themselves unable to achieve employment doing publicly funded work. One of many consequences of the change is that the Law Society and the SRA do not all the time reach the same conclusion on particular points.
